Project Engineer –Heavy Civil
Location: Farmers Branch, Texas
Position Summary
The Project Engineer will support the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, site development, underground utilities, earthwork, and roadway improvements. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to complex infrastructure projects while growing their career within the heavy civil construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and execution of heavy civil construction projects, including roadways, bridges, underground utilities, grading, earthwork, and concrete structures.
  • Support Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, procurement, and cost tracking.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, daily reports, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with field operations, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and clients to ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Track project quantities, production rates, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material deliveries.
  • Assist in maintaining project schedules and support monthly progress reporting.
  • Ensure work complies with contract documents, project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranties, and final project records.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project updates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help identify and resolve project challenges while supporting successful project execution.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with roadway, bridge, underground utility, excavation, grading, earthwork, or concrete construction projects is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
